Can You Etch It – Walnuts

Laser engraved walnut

Laser engraved walnut

Welcome to Can You Etch It, the web’s first laser engraving series that specializes in laser engraving strange, unique, and even common items.  Today, I will etch a walnut.

Yes, I am serious, a walnut.  Why a walnut, you may ask?  Well, I am always on the lookout for things to laser engrave.  Recently, at a family get together, there was a bowl of nuts.  I was eating a walnut when I thought, “I wonder what it would look like if I laser engraved this?”  Now I know, and I’m sharing it with the world.

Walnuts present a “small” problem; they are too small and curved to get much of a design to fit.  This design is about 0.5″ square and I think it fits nicely.  Due to the uneven surface and the small size, it is difficult to read the words, but “laser” can be seen even on the photo.

For those of you who are keeping score, this is my first walnut I have laser engraved.  I have also engraved a sweet potato (want to see? check out Facebook)
