Laser Last Week – 8-19-12

Welcome to Laser Last Week where we explore some of the new information being published around the web dealing with laser engraving and assorted services.  The focus is on the unique and remarkable, not the mass produced commodity.  This week there was only 2 link that made the list this week. If you have found any that I have missed, please let me know in the comments.  Enjoy.

Laser Last Week Links

  • 8-22-12 – Laser Engraving process – YouTube – Are you curious to see the laser engraving process from start to finish?  Well, here is your chance.  This video shows the process from design to completed laser engraving.  Most laser engraving goes through a very similar process.
  • 8-20-12 – Let’s Crowdfund A Macbook Pro – With Laser Etching! – IndieGoGo – Have you ever wanted a new computer but just didn’t have the cash?  Consider selling advertising.  A new Macbook Pro with a 15.6″ screen has about 126 square inches of space that you could (possibly) sell to pay for the cost.  Add a little laser etching and you have a one-of-a-kind crowdfunded Macbook.  This is not the first time it has been done, but utilizing a crowdfunding site such as IndieGoGo is different.  Interesting concept but I think I will just save up the money and buy what I want.

I hope you learned something about laser engraving today and how it can be used.  What was your favorite link?  Leave a comment and let me know.

In case you missed the last episode of Can You Etch It featuring a ruler laser cut and engraved from mat board, check it out here.
